The Southern Cape region along the Garden Route is rugged country backed by mountains, river filled valleys and world class point breaks, providing a habitat for many wild animals. Among the animals to be seen is South Africa`s big five. The area is also one of the most exciting land based whale watching venues in the world. The hidden gem of the region is the picturesque harbour town Mossel Bay.
One of the oldest towns in the country, it holds a charm few other towns can boast. A stone`s throw away from the loft you will find a variety of restaurants, bars and shops. Mossel Bay has the 2nd mildest climate in the world, 320 sunny days a year and 60 km of beautiful beaches. Two natural tidal pools near the loft provide endless fun for the kids.
The area also offers good diving, golfing, paragliding and skydiving, bungee jumping, biking and hiking on the famous oyster trail just to name a few.
The newly renovated historical sand stone house is only 300 meters from the ocean. The loft is ideal for families, couples and friends wanting a private retreat. Our philosophy is that we aim to offer an exclusive and personal service. For this reason, we only take bookings for one group at a time for a max. of four people.
We will kick start your day with a wholesome breakfast and end it off with an exclusive 3-course South African fusion dinner. If you fancy a more romantic evening or a sleep-in, we`ll gladly entertain your kids. Your host family are a Swiss Teacher and a South African, who's a passionate cook, whenever he's not surfing. It will be their pleasure to offer their advice and give tips on the region.
The surflodge
A spacious, stylish loft equipped with a kitchenette, TV, DVD player and bathroom will provide a very comfortable stay. Adjacent to the loft is a large private deck area and garden, offering magnificent sea views. Admire a spectacular sunrise and sunset on the terrace while sipping on a sundowner.
The surf cottage
New is also a cottage available: a 2-room apartment with 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen and a large garden with sea view. The cottage is located below the loft.
South Africa is one of the worlds most surf spoiled countrys. The rainbow culture of the Southern Cape region offers a series of world class points and protected beach breaks. Just a short walk from the loft you will find one of the country`s best and most consistent surf. Mossel Bay has a wealth of multi- peak bays. Outer Pool is the pick, throwing up long walls and cavernous tubes. Next door, Inner Pool offers a playful peak. Around the corner is another famous point break, Victoria Bay. The beach breaks near by are ideal for beginners, and it is here where we help you ride your first waves. Depending on your ability we can always find suitable waves, and with the area being so consistent, you are guaranteed to score waves year round. For our surf guiding option, we will drive around the region each day, searching for the best waves. We also offer tours to the world famous Jeffreys Bay within easy reach.
The biggest swells arrive from April and run till September. Crowds are not an issue in Mossel Bay at all, so you will enjoy surfing with a few locals and your host.

For beginners, we offer the Surf Course (incl. surfequipment). Allow us the privilege to get you up and riding in no time. The Surf school is run by professionals. If you feel you need more one on one advise, no problem. 2. Surf Guiding-Package
For intermediate or advanced surfer, we offer half day surf tours to the spots in the area (exkl. surfequipment). Take the hassle out of trying to figure out where the best waves are. Let us do the work for you. We will drive along the coast to find the best spots and guide you in and out of the water. Included in the package: 7 nights in the surf loft with kitchenette and garden terrasse (incl. cleaning), airport transfer from George, 5 half days surf tours, 5x packed lunch. Excl. surfequipment. We will offer a free airport transfer from George, which is a 30 min drive away. For an additional cost we will also pick you up from Cape Town.
A rental car is recommended for South Africa. Just ask us for assistance. The streets are Swiss Standard and very well signed. The surf loft is easy to find. The ride from Cape Town or the Garden Route is very spectacular. If travellling with your own car from Cape Town it is a scenic 3 hour drive. Assistance is provided regarding rental cars.
