A camp designed by surfers for surfers. The camp is located on Playa Hermosa, just a few minutes north of Santa Teresa. It is one of the quietest, cleanest and most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. This area is known for consistent surf all year long, with waves for all skills levels. Whether you are looking for an easy wave for beginners or steep walls and barrel rides, Playa Hermosa is a dreamlike, diverse beach break that will leave you breathless.
The best thing is, it’s only a two minute walk that separates you from the waves and the white sandy beach. Without having to adapt to a shuttle bus timetable, you can plan your sessions freely and independently - surf whenever you feel like it. Find yourself on a deserted dream beach before dawn and experience picturesque sunsets to end the day. Check out the waves at any time of the day or treat yourself to a relaxed break in the hammock or in the camp’s own pool.
During your stay you will be accommodated in one of the four spacious, two story
cabinas. Each is equipped with four beds, air conditioning, a cozy lounge area and a
private bathroom with shower.
When you are not in the waves or on the beach, our chill area offers space to relax,
read, or interact with other guests. You can cool off in our saltwater pool, and of course,
at Zopilote you can also surf online quickly without frustration.
Our on-site restaurant Sito’s, open 6 days a week, serves delicious seasonal dishes using
top quality ingredients. Well deserved after-surf cocktails can also be enjoyed here.
The legendary nightlife of Santa Teresa is a 10-minute drive from the Zopilote. It’s
numerous bars, restaurants and beach clubs will undoubtedly satisfy your party craving.
Playa Hermosa, is our “home break” and an excellent spot to learn to surf or improve your surfing skills. The waves are consistent and offer ideal conditions for surfing using a variety of boards, including longboards, mini-malibus’, funboards, fishes and shortboards.
Booking surf lessons can be done with ease and flexibility. Experienced surf instructors are familiar with the break and will adapt to whatever level you’re at. Classes are booked with a maximum of 4 participants. By offering small classes, we believe that each person then has the opportunity to experience the true joy of surfing – a top priority for us!
There are countless surf spots between Playa Hermosa and Mal Pais, each offering constant waves for every surf level. We can offer recommendations of where to surf the well known and newly discovered spots. We are always happy to provide suggestions –

Spanish Lessons
In addition to surf courses, you can take Spanish lessons, which will be held at the surf camp and are guided in English. The course is 2 hours a day per week. The course schedule is very flexible and can be arranged directly at the camp. Price upon request, approximately CHF 150 / EUR 120 per person.
Playa Hermosa is about 6 hours car drive away from San Jose. That's the reason why we offer different options to get to Santa Teresa when ever you arrive in San Jose. Those transfer packages will bring you to the camp.

You can also take the local bus (Rodriguez) departing from San Carlos bus terminal in San Jose. Leave the bus in Cobano and take a Taxi to the camp.
The fastest way to the camp is taking a flight to Tambor (EUR 70 with Fly Sansa or Nature Air). There you have to take a Taxi for about EUR 40 Flight and taxi have to be organized by yourself.
