Accommodation

At Mahi Mahi Resort, guests are accommodated comfortably, stylishly and ecologically. The Surf Resort consists of bungalows & villas built from recycled materials (upcycling) and which, thanks to traditional structures & elements, correspond to the local style.

Single bedroom
The single rooms are equipped with a private bathroom (semi-outdoor), ceiling fan, air conditioning and mosquito net. All rooms have a small terrace overlooking the garden, the golf course and of course “The Peak”.

Doppelzimmer
The double rooms on the top floor with private bathrooms (semi-outdoor), ceiling fan, air conditioning and mosquito nets are good for couples and those who want a little more space. The wooden and bamboo roofing creates a cozy, tropical atmosphere. An outdoor veranda offers views of the gardens, the golf course and “The Peak” so you can always choose the right time to surf.

Villas / Deluxe Rooms
For private groups and families, there are two 2-storey villas, fully equipped with air conditioning, kitchens, refrigerators, common areas, ceiling fans, and mosquito nets. The villas can accommodate a maximum of 9 people.

Common areas & amenities
There are a number of common areas where guests can relax and spend time together. The “Joglo”, a large open area of traditional teak wood where all meals are served, is equipped with a projector for movie nights, a stereo system, comfortable sofas and bean bags, board games and books.

The resort also features a campfire fireplace, a 9-hole pitch-and-put golf course, a volleyball field and a pool with views of the waves.

The “Yoglo” (Yoga Studio) consists of coconut wood floors and old Java wood and offers a comfortable and beautiful studio overlooking the surf. Yoga is offered free of charge to all guests and yoga retreats are also held regularly.

A special feature is our satellite Wi-Fi (no other resort on the island has satellite Wi-Fi).

Meals
The mix of local and Western dishes is made from locally grown and sourced ingredients, often from our own organic community garden or our free range farming. Green waste is separated and used as compost/fertilizer for the garden. Therefore, all guests are asked to follow this attitude and pay attention to their consumption.

Between meals, the café always offers cakes, coffee, sodas, beer and snacks, so that the surf tank is always full!

Surf

Simeulue Island, 150 km from mainland Sumatra, offers pointbreaks, beachbreaks, reef spots and offshore islands. The island is just above the equator and is not affected by trade winds, which means that the winds are mostly light and offer favorable conditions for surfing. This makes Simeulue a year-round surfing destination.

The Peak – the most constant wave of the island – is located directly in front of the resort and is visible from all rooms and common areas (but is only one of many surfing possibilities).

Here you’re lucky enough to find waves all over the island, including The Peak, Barreling Reef Breaks, Fun Beachies, and Gentle Reef Breaks. There are waves suitable for all surf levels and the small number of surfers makes surfing on Simeulue a relaxed affair (locals hardly surf yet and charter boats do not visit the area).

Activities
Simeulue offers more than just surfing. Thanks to the forests, hills, rivers, and lakes, there are also many activities for non-surfers such as diving, snorkeling, hiking, bird watching, mountain biking, yoga, and fishing.
