Overview
The Atlantic coast of Cantabria, in the north of Spain, is also called the «Costa Verde», the «green coast». Waves in the region around San Vicente de la Barquera let the heart of every surfer beat faster. The comfortable surf hotel is only 150 meters linear distance away from the beach and directly at the surf spot Oyambre. Having fun while surfing and celebrating the days of vacation are our focus.
Good food, nice people and an absolutely relaxed atmosphere is waiting for you! Due to the nature park, it hasn’t been allowed to build anything on the beach for years. This means: no hotel castles and no mass tourism! Just 20 kilometers from the sea begins the Picos de Europa National Park, peaks rise more than 2600 meters into the sky. This proximity from the high mountains to the Atlantic Ocean is unique in Europe and offers a spectacular backdrop for surfing.
Other great trips to Santander for shopping and partying, culture in Santillana or cave tour in Soplao are offered on site.

Surf Hotel
This surf hotel profits from an exclusive location, right at the beach of the Oyambre Natural Park – 150 metres linear distance from the spot, the sandy beach of Playa de Oyambre.
The 8 spacious double rooms have sea or country views and are all equipped with private bathroom, TV and desk. The lounge with fireplace, many games, WiFi access, small library, dartboard and DVD player with movies and surf videos are freely available to all guests. The large garden with barbecue area, playground, sun terrace, hammocks and sun loungers is part of the house as well as the indoboard and the slackline.
Deluxe Camping
The Oyambre campsite is also located in the immediate vicinity of the surf camp, 300 meters away. From the camping area you have a beautiful view of the mountainous landscape of Cantabria. You will be accommodated in spacious 2 people tents, which are divided into one or two sleeping areas. You have the opportunity to take care of yourself and still be able to participate in the surf camp life in a few minutes.
The 5 comfortable tents are equipped with mattress, slatted base, bed linen, light, table and chairs. In the kitchen tent guests, who want to take care of themselves, find a gas cooker, refrigerator, dishes, pots, pans and electricity. On the campsite there is a small supermarket, a restaurant and a cafeteria. All offers at the surf hotel can also be used by guests at the campsite without restriction.
The crew attaches great importance to the quality of the food and always offers fresh, healthy and balanced food. You can choose whether you only want to book the rich breakfast buffet or the whole package with a 2 course gourmet menu in the evening. Self-catering is only possible in the camping area.
Surf
Beginners and advanced surfers will find beautiful, long sandy beaches of Playa des Oyambre and Meron. Playa de Gerra (about 3 minutes by car) is oriented to the northwest and therefore offers perfect waves even in summer. For the big days, Playa de Oyambre, protected from west and northwest winds, is an excellent surf spot. Other top spots like Los Locos (31 kilometers away) are quickly reachable by car. The famous wave of Rodiles is 85 kilometers away, but definitely worth driving to if the forecast predicts good conditions.
The surf camp team (ISA trained surf instructors, levels 1 and 2) have many years of experience with teaching how to surf. It is taught exclusively in small groups. The surf course participants are divided into different skill groups.

Trial course, beginner or advanced course
Trial
course: 1 day (4h) practical lessons, introduction to the area, surf equipment and spot transfers
In the trial course you get a short insight into surfing. If you like this fascinating sport, you can extend the course (see beginner course).
Beginner
course: 3, 5 or 10 days theoretical and practical lessons (3 to 4 hours daily), incl. Surf equipment, video analysis and spot transfer. Step by step theory, practice as well as movement corrections guarantee fun and fascination right from the start. Your safe entry into surfing!
Advanced course
:3, 5 or 10 days of theoretical and practical lessons (3 to 4 hours daily), incl. Surf equipment, video analysis and spot transfer
On the first day, the surf coach takes a picture of the existing surf skills. Based on this, the goals of the participants are discussed. Improvement strategies and error detection are developed after each session with the help of video material. You will be taken to the best spots in the region.
All surf courses start on Sundays, individual lessons on request.
Surf board
rental The surf equipment is included in the price. On site you can rent surfboards for EUR 19 per day or for EUR 99 per week. The wetsuit rental is EUR 8 per day or EUR 39 per week.
Arrival
Flight
Possible destinations are Bilbao and Santander. On Saturdays, an airport shuttle is available to and from Bilbao and Santander. The cost is EUR 59 per tour for Santander and EUR 139 for Bilbao. The costs can be shared between passengers (max. 8 persons). Trips on other days only on request.
A cheap alternative is to travel by bus. From the airport, shuttle buses leave from the bus station every 20-30 minutes, from where you can take public transport to San Vicente de la Barquera. There you will be picked up free of charge. Bus timetable as well as ticket ingestion under www.alsa.es.
Car
The road network is excellent. Directions can be obtained on request with the booking confirmation.
