Overview

The Southern Cape region on the Garden Route is not only known for world-class surf spots, but also for its beautiful scenery with spectacular mountain formations, rivers and fantastic wildlife. Among them also “the big five” (lion, buffalo, rhinoceros, leopard and giraffe). The coast is also one of the best places to watch whales from the countryside.

A jewel of this coast is the port city of Mossel Bay. As one of South Africa’s oldest cities, it is hard to beat in its history and charm. Just a stone’s throw from the Surfloft, there are numerous bars, restaurants and shops in the old town.

Mossel Bay has the second mildest climate in the world, 320 sunny days a year and 30 kilometers of sandy beaches on the Indian Ocean. Two warm lagoons, which fill with water at high tide, are very close to the loft and inspire the children. You can also dive in Mossel Bay, golf (18 holes), paraglide, skydiven, bungee jump, cycle and hike on the famous Oyster Trail.

4 REASONS FOR A SUDDEN RUSH SURF TRIP TO MOSSEL BAY:

  1. Stunning Garden Route with a wide range of activities
  2. Ideal accommodation for couples, small groups and families
  3. Super tasty meals, freshly prepared by the passionate chef & host
  4. Experienced surf guides to always surf the best spot and surf courses for beginners and intermediates

Accommodation

The historic house is 300 meters from the port and not much further from the magnificent beaches.

Every day starts with a hearty, healthy breakfast and is rounded off with an exquisite 3-course menu. If you want to enjoy a romantic dinner on the terrace or sleep out, you can also leave the children to look after us.

The host family is a Swiss teacher and a South African who cooks passionately when he is not surfing. It will be a pleasure for you to share their experiences and tips on the country and the Region around Mossel Bay.

The Surfloft
The loft is located on the upper floor and has a separate entrance. This includes a garden with terrace with magnificent sea views. The spacious, stylish loft is equipped with a kitchenette, bathroom and a sofa corner with TV and DVD player. It is ideal for couples or families who need space and appreciate their privacy. Of course, we also like to host a group of friends. Since we want to offer an exclusive service, we can accommodate a maximum of four people in the Surf Loft.

The Surf-Cottage
A cottage is now available: a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, a large kitchen and a large garden with sea view. The cottage is located below the loft.

Surf

South Africa is very spoiled when it comes to waves. Since the waves in Mossel Bay are very constant and there are 5 surf spots in the center, beginners, as well as pros get their money’s worth. 1-2 course participants by surf instructor are luxury, but here quite normal.

The Mossel Bay area offers a series of world-class point breaks and beach breaks. Our house surf spot is well known: “Outer Pool” with its longwalls and barrels is for experienced surfers. “Inner Pool” next door is a very playful wave. The beachbreaks at Santos Beach or Diaz Beach are especially suitable for beginners. The surf lessons are also held there. Just a few bays away are the famous waves of Victoria Bay.

The biggest waves reach South Africa between April and September. Even during this time, only a handful of locals romp in the waves. Until November you surf here besides dolphins and seals also with many whales in the bay. The coast around Mosselbay is so diverse that, regardless of your skills, you can surf waves at any time and year in, year out.

For the surf guiding, the best waves for the guests are determined daily and the transport to the surf spots is taken over. Showing the best waves is always a pleasure!

Arrival

Airport transfer
and arrival
The airport transfer from George is included and takes about 30 minutes. A transfer from the airport in Cape Town is also possible for a fee.

Car rental
A rental car is highly recommended for South Africa, which we also like to organize. The roads comply with the Swiss standard and are generally well signposted. The Surloft is therefore easy to find. The journey from Cape Town or along the Garden Route are very spectacular.
