Maldives or the Republic of Maldives is a tropical island nation in the heart of Indian Ocean, with more than 1,190 small, coral islands stretching over approximately 2000 kilometers. Top-class Surf Boat Trip
With more than 20 years of experience, the team of the surf yacht “Horizon II” has one of the most important qualifications: Local Know-How! They know the Maldives like the back of their hand and know what it takes to offer their guests an unforgettable surf trip. Not without reason, more than half of the surfing guests are “returning guests”, who are convinced of the service and now regularly return to this tropical surf paradise.
The surf season runs from March to November and the individual trips always last 10 days. The offer is only suitable for experienced surfers, because the spots are a bit more demanding and you always surf independently – without a surf course. But you don’t have to be a full professional to have fun in the South Atoll: Already as an ambitious intermediate surfer you can find “the perfect wave” and thanks to few people in the water and the proximity to the spots you can surf a lot & intensively in a short time.

Surf
The best time for Maldives surfing trips is the Southern Hemisphere winter, which lasts from March to October. The biggest waves are likely to occur in June, July and August. During this period, the wind is offshore all day long. Huvadhoo is less crowded, has amazing swells and almost all the surf breaks are nearby. The swells are consistent.
Maldives has some of the best waves in the world
Maldives is exposed to the same swells as Indonesia is, except that its higher latitude and its South-East exposure offers cooler and less hardcore surfing. The typical maldivian wave rolls up like most point breaks with workable corners, fun pockets and long rides. Very rarely will the sets wall up or close out the channels. The waves break on mostly dead reef, and very rarely will you come in contact with it unless you are surfing on a very low tide. We usually recommend an intermediate surfing level to enjoy the surf in the Maldives. In he Southern Atolls, the waves are quite powerful, enormous and therefore a good level is required.
The Maldives have in general more rights than lefts. it’s a 60% – 40% and the most consistent wind is off shore for the rights and cross shore for the lefts; it means that you probably will surf more rights than lefts. However it is possible to surf some excellent world class left handers.
