Overview
The Secret Surfcamp on Vagueira Beach is surrounded by salt water. The river on one side and the ocean on the other, and you get the feeling of having landed on an island. The surf camp is located near the village of Aveiro, about 60 kilometers south of Porto. Aveiro is a former fishing village known for the ancient traditional fishing method Arte Xavega. The town is crossed by canals and is therefore known as the Venice of Portugal.

Accommodation
The surf camp is only 100 meters from the beach, making it the perfect location for a surf camp. Whether you’re on your own for the surf trip, or if you want to travel with your friends, here you’re in the right place. It offers four double and shared rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a lounge area with a terrace and a garden.
Accommodation options in the camp:
- Multi-bed room with space for 6 people with private bathroom.
- Two double bedrooms, both with private bathroom.
- Twin rooms with shared beds, here can accommodate two or three people.
Surf
The long sandy beach Vagueira is suitable for all levels and skills. This beach is very close to the Surf House and perfect for intermediate and advanced surfers. Another spot suitable for these levels is Praia Costa Nova. Barra Beach, on the other hand, has great waves for all levels and yet we surf on all three beaches, as they are all well suited for our lessons. We offer courses for beginners and advanced surfer and the lessons are held in Portuguese, Spanish, English or French.
We surf every day and if you still don’t get enough, you can book additional lessons on site for EUR 15.
The water is between 12°C and 16°C during the winter months from December to March. During the summer months, the temperature rises to 16°C to 20°C.

Prices
Surf course package:
7 nights at Surf House incl. breakfast, 5 surf lessons of 2 hours and spot transfer. The equipment is included and can also be used after the hours. A SUP tour, WiFi and the use of all facilities in the camp are also included in the package. Upon arrival and departure, transfer to Aveiro Train Station is included.
Seasons:
High season: 1 April to 31 October, Easter, Christmas, New Year and Carnival (in March)
Low season: 1 November to 30. March 31
The surf course is offered on every day of the week, so the day of arrival does not matter.
Arrival
There are several ways to get to Aveiro. The cheapest is to fly to Porto and take the metro to the train station of Sao Bento (Porto). From there you take the train to Aveiro. The journey takes about 60 minutes and costs about EUR 5. In Aveiro you will be picked up at the train station (between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m. a night surcharge of EUR 20 will be charged).
Someone can also pick you up from the camp in Lisbon or Porto at the airport. The driver is waiting for you in the entrance hall or at an agreed meeting point. Prices are for one way and the transfer must be booked one week in advance.

If you want to go to Aveiro during your surf camp stay, a shuttle can be arranged. This shuttle service costs EUR 10 each way.
