Overview

Senegal and surfing? You bet!

The camp is located in Yoff, on the north coast of Senegal just 20 minutes from Dakar. The village, like the whole country, is under construction and gives its own charm. Senegal is a third world country. Accordingly, life is simple and original. So if you want to escape from crowded surf spots and the organized everyday life, you will find yourself in the right place. You will easily find the essentials like a bank, a pharmacy, shops, restaurants, internet coffees and bars and feel at home!

In addition to surfing and yoga, there is also a lot to experience: the music scene is astonishingly large, so there are live concerts several times a week. In addition, beautiful handicrafts are offered. Or take a trip to the pink salt lake Retba, which has similar characteristics to the Dead Sea. Or visit one of the national parks (not suitable in summer, as too warm and malaria danger!). Other activities include camel tours, beach riding, quad biking, boat trips for fishing and djembe classes. You will certainly never get bored!

Surf

The Almadies peninsula in Senegal, just outside Dakar, offers one of the largest swell windows in the world. At 260°, the peninsula almost does not escape a swell. The individual surf spots are not far apart and when the wind blows in your face on the northern coastline, it produces the waves on the other side. Winter offers the best conditions, as Senegal reaches the same winter swells as Fuerteventura.

The surf spot right next to the camp is one of the best beach breaks in Senegal and is perfect for surf beginners, but also for advanced surfers. If you are looking for pointbreaks, you will find it in Dakar with the reefs Ngor, Ouaka or Alamdies.

Season for surfing: Surfable for beginners all year round. For those who have progressed, the best surfing months are from November to March.

Water temperature: In the winter months around 11°C (wetsuit required), in summer and autumn up to 27°C warm.
